Ordering the wrong part is the most common, and most avoidable, headache in equipment maintenance. A pump, filter, or alternator that looks nearly identical to the one you need can still be the wrong fit if a single digit in the part number is off. Here is how to get it right the first time.
1. Start with the OEM part number, not the description
"Hydraulic pump for a Mitsubishi forklift" describes dozens of parts. The OEM number stamped on your old part, or listed in your machine's manual, narrows it down to one. Our Hydraulic Pump 91571-02900 / 91571-10100, for example, fits Mitsubishi FD18, FG20, FG25, FGC25 and select Caterpillar GC/GP models. If you only know the machine model, that works too, but the part number is the fastest way to confirm a match.
2. Check the cross-reference numbers
Manufacturers revise part numbers over time, and the same physical component is often sold under several numbers across brands that share engines or subsystems. Our Water Pump 129900-42002 for Yanmar 4TNE98/4TNE94 engines is a good example: the same pump also appears listed for Komatsu and Hyundai equipment. Always scan the cross-reference numbers in a listing before assuming a part will not fit your machine.
3. Match the engine or machine model, not just the brand
Two forklifts from the same manufacturer can use completely different engines. Our Distributor MD326637 fits Mitsubishi 4G15, 4G63, and 4G64 engines across specific Forklift and Clark models, but not every Mitsubishi-powered machine. Confirm the exact engine code or machine model number before checking out, especially on ignition, fuel, and electrical parts where the wrong fit can cause real damage.
4. Watch for kit vs. single-part listings
Some jobs need more than one component. Our Outer & Inner Air Filter kit for Bobcat Track Loaders (MT52, MT55, MT85, MT100) bundles both filters under part numbers 6687262 and 6687263 because they are typically replaced together. Buying only the outer filter when the inner one is also due means a second order and a second wait.
5. When in doubt, send us the old part number or a photo
If your part is unmarked, worn, or you simply are not sure, send us the number stamped on the old part, your machine's model and serial number, or a clear photo. We would rather confirm fitment before you order than process a return after.
