A worn ignition switch is one of the most common reasons a forklift won't start, crank intermittently, or loses power to the dash mid-shift. If your lift is a Clark, Hyster, Yale, or Crown model, there's a good chance it uses the same switch: part number 272041 (also stamped HY272041).

Installation overview
Disconnect the battery before starting. Remove the dash bezel or steering column cover to access the back of the switch, note the wire positions (a phone photo helps), unplug the harness, and unbolt the old switch. Install the new switch in the reverse order, reconnect the harness, and test with the battery connected before reassembling the panel.
If your forklift won't start after a switch swap, double check the harness connector is fully seated — it's the most common reason for a "no power" symptom after installation.
